Jeff Hergenrather

Founding member and President of the Society of Cannabis Clinicians, Medical Cannabis Consultant, USA

Dr. Jeffrey Hergenrather is easily one of the most important cannabis physicians working today. He received his medical degree in 1975 from Brown University and began his medical career as a general practitioner in 1976. He lived and provided medical services for six years to 600-1500 people on ‘The Farm’, the legendary alternative community in Tennessee 40 years ago. The adults in the community medicated with cannabis regularly to relieve everything from migraines to menstrual cramps. Since then Dr. Hergenrather quietly integrated cannabis into his general medical practice which included general medicine, OB-GYN, pediatrics, and emergency medicine.
Almost single-handedly, Dr. Hergenrather has demonstrated the remarkable versatility of cannabis medicine and substantially raised awareness of its capabilities. Today, he is a medical cannabis consultant with a private practice, working closely with California patients with serious medical conditions. He also provides consultations worldwide by phone and on-line appointments.

He is active with the Society of Cannabis Clinicians; as a founding member and serving as president from 2008-2019, when he took over from founding member, Dr. Tod Mikuryia. Dr. Hergenrather is a member of the International Association of Cannabinoid Medicine (IACM), and the International Cannabinoid Research Society (ICRS). He has recently completed a three month ‘sabbatical’ as an Academic Visitor at the Technion Department of Biology, Cannabis and Cannabinoid Research Institute, in Haifa, Israel. He is an expert in utilizing cannabis medicinally and continues to help patients seeking alternative healing solutions.
